From around 2007, the ‘Internet generation’ will start to enter
the workforce. They bring new skills and thrive on technology; the average
teenager can absorb twice as much as peripheral visual information as
today’s adult airplane pilots.
Those who lack the necessary IT skills
will miss out on employment opportunities, simple as that.
But it is not just skills that are needed. Increasingly, IT professionals need
a broader set of business skills, the ability to manage extended IT services
supply chains and complex projects and a strong understanding of sector-specific
processes and standards. The roles of IT professionals both within and outside
the IT industry are changing significantly, embracing business, interpersonal
and project skills as well as deep expertise in systems integration, networking
and security. IT and business are irrevocably linked, the messages and trends
are clear.
This is why from September 2005 we offer the Masters Degree in E-Business
and Information Systems to prepare
highly capable professionals, ready to tackle the challenges of both disciplines.
Our approach is not the ‘traditional’ knowledge-transfer approach.
'Traditional teaching' lasts for only three months. Our aim is to upgrade students
existing skills, develop new IT and business skills and most importantly, enhance
their way of thinking. Students will have the opportunity to learn by getting
involved in real projects with real companies.
The new Masters Degree in E-Business and Information Systems, will produce graduates who understand the
fundamentals of strategies and business processes, as well as the development
and application of information systems in supporting new organisations
and business practices.
This unique approach, will produce graduates who will take on strategic responsibilities
in private and public sector organisations, leading the transformation of organisations
through innovative use of information systems.
The course is primarily aimed at graduates or those at graduate level who have
a background in computing science/information systems, or in business management.
They should be interested in a management career with a strong emphasis on E-Business
and Information Systems.
This is a great opportunity to
extend your knowledge and develop your skills in two of the most sought
disciplines: business and computing!
