Dr Joanne Roberts

Before joining the Newcastle University Business School in 2007, Joanne taught international business at Durham Business School, Durham University for 6 years. Prior to this she taught economics and international business at Northumbria University. Since 1998 she has been an Honorary Associate Fellow at the ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition, University of Manchester. She is a member of the European Dynamics of Institutions and Markets in Europe (DIME) network of Excellence.

Honorary Associate Fellow since 1998 at the ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition, University of Manchester, UK.

Best Paper Prize: ‘Global Consultancy Services: Conceptual Issues Concerning the Cross-Border Delivery of Knowledge Intensive Services’, British Academy of Management Conference, 13th – 15th September 2005. Awarded the Best Paper Prize in the Management Consultancy Track.

Research Interests

Joanne’s research interests include knowledge intensive services, new information and communication technologies and knowledge transfer, communities of practice and the internationalisation of business services. She has participated in a number of research projects including a European-wide investigation into 'Patents in Services' funded by the EU. Most recently she has completed research on Communities of Practice in collaboration with members of the EU DIME network of Excellence.
